Jimmy Garoppolo contract details: QB signs one-year deal as backup for Los Angeles Rams image

Jimmy Garoppolo seems to have accepted his role as a backup quarterback for the 2024 NFL season.

The veteran play caller has signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams after spending a season with the Las Vegas Raiders, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. He started six games, earning a 3-3 record before being benched in favor of Aidan O'Connell.

Garoppolo, 32, is set to backup Matthew Stafford during the 2024 season, giving some cushion for the Rams if their 36-year-old starter gets injured.

Here are the details on Garoppolo's new contract with the Rams.

Jimmy Garoppolo contract details

Garoppolo signed a one-year deal with the Rams that'll have him backing up Stafford in Los Angeles.

The contract's value hasn't been disclosed, but it likely will be on the smaller size considering it's for a second-string quarterback.

Garoppolo spent the past season with the Raiders after signing a three-year, $72.8 million contract in 2023 free agency. The Raiders started him just six games before benching him in favor of O'Connell.

Las Vegas released Garoppolo at the end of the season after the quarterback received a two-game ban for using performance-enhancing drugs.

He will serve the two-game suspension with the Rams at the start of the 2024 season before joining the team.

Prior to his three-year contract with the Raiders, Garoppolo signed a five-year, $137.5 million with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018, per Spotrac.
