The Indianapolis Colts' offense officially has a chance to be fantasy relevant in 2025.

On Tuesday, Adam Schefter reported that Daniel Jones will start at quarterback over Anthony Richardson in Week 1. And that's a big deal.

Richardson himself was always an intriguing fantasy prospect because of his running ability and his deep ball enthusiasm.

But he wasn't good for the overall offense. A guy who completes only 47% of his passes on low volume in 2024 is not someone who is going to turn a bunch of receivers into fantasy football stars.

Jones, though?

He can work with a WR1. He can work with a strong tight end. He's not perfect, but there's a chance of him making Colts pass catchers worth drafting.

The names Michael Pittman and Tyler Warren are most relevant here.

Pittman is a big, talented wideout who makes plays all over the field. With Richardson, though, it was often like he wasn't out there.

We won't know Jones' rapport with Pittman for sure until the regular season gets rolling, but if you were targeting Pittman in the middle rounds of your draft, the Jones news is certainly better than getting Richardson.

The same is true for Warren, the absurdly talented rookie tight end out of Penn State. More throws to Warren will be a good thing for the Colts and for fantasy players. He's definitely a starter-worthy TE, and with Jones at the helm, Warren has upside.

The rest of the Indianapolis offense likely is upgraded by this move, including RB Jonathan Taylor. Jones runs some, but not as much as Richardson, and he's less likely to vulture touchdowns away from Taylor.

The starting QB job could still switch hands here at some point during the season, but for now, the Colts are going with Jones.
