Six months after hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, the Chiefs are back in action. Preseason action, that is.
The opening week of the preseason sees the defending champs travel to the Bayou to take on the Saints, who have an increased focus on incorporating new faces as the preseason begins.
Ahead of the preseason opener, second-year Saints head coach Dennis Allen confirmed that the team plans to play its available starters in Sunday's game. Perhaps the most notable member of the group is quarterback Derek Carr, who signed with New Orleans this offseason after spending the first nine years of his career with the Raiders.
Kansas City, on the other hand, has a bit more continuity on its roster, and so far, the biggest stories from its training camp have been Travis Kelce's temper and the ongoing holdout of All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones. With the Chiefs getting back on the field, the franchise can shift the focus back to football as it gears up for a title defense.
