Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron's left wrist, injured on the last play of Monday's overtime loss to the Broncos, is not broken and there's a chance he could play in Cincinnati's final regular-season game Sunday against the Ravens, NFL.com reported, citing an unidentified source.

Because the injury is to his non-throwing wrist, he is intent on playing, according to NFL.com, but the sprain is "significant" and the team won't know his availability until later in the week.

With Monday's loss, the Bengals (11-4) slipped to the No. 3 seed among AFC playoff teams, but a win Sunday coupled with a Broncos loss against the Chargers would lift Cincinnati into the No. 2 spot and a first-round bye.

Keith Wenning is backing up McCarron while No. 1 QB Andy Dalton tries to come back from a thumb injury. Dalton already has been ruled out for Week 17 and is unlikely to be ready if the Bengals have to play in the first round of the playoffs.
