If there’s one NFL legend who has earned a statue outside of his home stadium, it’s Tom Brady. He is the greatest of all time and it’s not particularly close, either. For many football fans, the title was his upon leading the New England Patriots back from a 28-3 deficit in Super Bowl LI to win his sixth ring. For everyone else, switching teams in 2020 and immediately winning a seventh ring was the point at which his greatness could no longer be denied, whether you love him or hate him.

For New York Jets fans, it’s certainly the latter. It would be no surprise then if they didn’t bother to watch the Patriots unveil the Tom Brady statue in front of Gillette Stadium. Why give any attention to the quarterback who racked up a 31-8 record against your team? Well, for the Jets fans who tried to ignore Brady’s big day, that likely became impossible when Brady got behind the mic and absolutely roasted Jets fans.

After remarking that his statue would likely be a target for angry Jets fans to throw their beers at as they leave Gillette Stadium every year, Brady paused and delivered a brutal shot to the pride of Gang Green.

Even the most ardent Jets fan has to admit that that was pretty funny. It can’t be said that Brady was wrong, either. In 18 career homes games against the Jets, he lost just three times. Even worse for Jets fans, nothing has really changed even after Brady left New England, as they are still 2-8 against the post-Brady Patriots.

There is a sliver of hope there for Jets fans in that both of those wins came in the last two years. Head coach Aaron Glenn appears to be setting a winning culture in place, and the defense features elite talent with two defenders being ranked in PFF's Top 50 NFL players. They have as good a shot as ever of sweeping New England, something the Jets haven’t done since the year 2000. Even if nothing else goes well for New York in 2025, that would certainly be a treat for the fans.
