The NFL finally announced the schedule for the upcoming season, and the New York Jets are hoping to see a massive improvement from their 2024 season, which saw them finish with a 5-12 record and in third place in the AFC East.
Over the last few months, New York has brought in a new front office and coaching staff while making significant changes to the roster, including swapping out Aaron Rodgers for Justin Fields at quarterback.
While there's still plenty of work to be done before New York's season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, many NFL experts have already broken down their schedule and projected just how well the Jets will do in their first season under the Darren Mougey-Aaron Glenn regime. Here's what they're saying:
Jets 2025 record predictions
Moe Moton, Bleacher Report: 7-10
"Typically, defensive-minded head coaches lean on the run game, and it makes sense for Glenn to do that with Fields' inconsistent accuracy. Gang Green wins more games than last year but misses the playoffs."

Henry McKenna, FOX Sports: 8-9
"The Jets had no shortage of talent last year, and I’m willing to bet the organization couldn’t get the most out of its players because of the profound dysfunction stemming from awkward power dynamics involving Aaron Rodgers, Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas. Every single one of those guys is gone, for better and for worse. (Mostly for better.) There’s a new era of coach Aaron Glenn, GM Darren Mougey and QB Justin Fields. I recently saw a Jets fan tweet that he wants the team to finish this season at either 5-12 or 12-5. In the playoffs. Or in the top 10 of the draft. But I’m sorry to say that I see it cutting right down the middle. No playoffs. Or a top-10 pick. And that’ll make for a tough decision for New York about what to do with Fields in 2026."
Matt Verderame, Sports Illustrated: 5-12
"This is a rebuilding year for the Jets, who have a new general manager, coach and quarterback. New York is the worst team in the division and the schedule isn’t going to do them many favors, having to play a third-place slate with games against the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys. Both of those teams are better than Miami’s current edition."
Nick Brinkerhoff, USA Today: 6-11
"'Gang Green' figures to be a frisky bunch, but the playoffs might have to wait for another year. If things go right, and that's a big question, they could sneak into a playoff spot.
"History tells us that is a long shot, even if they might be on the right track."
Connor Hughes, SNY: 7-10
"The Jets will be a feisty team. Most games will be close. They’ll steal one or two they shouldn’t. They’ll fall short of the playoffs, but hype will build for the future under Glenn and Darren Mougey."
