The New York Jets are hoping first-year head coach Aaron Glenn will bring plenty of changes to the team. One of the many changes will be a new look offense. Glenn hired Tanner Engstrand to be his offensive coordinator, who joins the Jets after being the Detroit Lions' passing game coordinator last season. You can assume Engstrand will bring over a similar offense to the one in Detroit, and that should excite Jets fans. One thing we know about the Lions’ offense is that they utilize two running backs in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.
It will be interesting to see if the Jets look for something similar with Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. Last season, it was Hall who got most of the work. He rushed 209 times compared to Allen’s 92. But we should expect to see their carry totals much closer together in 2025. According to NFL Insider Albert Breer, Allen could have a “pretty significant” role this season.

It would not be a surprise to see the Jets run the ball often in 2025, mainly because they have two good running backs and a running quarterback in Justin Fields. Their personnel are set up for rushing success, and we should see plenty of it. Allen is entering his second NFL season, and he is still only 21 years old. He has shown flashes as both a rusher and receiver, which could be a vital part of the offense. Running back is one of the toughest positions in the NFL, and having multiple good ones can keep the backfield fresh.
There are a plethora of question marks surrounding the Jets heading into the 2025 season; the franchise has not appeared in the playoffs in over a decade. However, they should improve with the new coaching staff, and Allen is one player who could benefit from a more significant role.
