NFL insider reveals promising New York Giants WR clashed with coaches in 2024 image

New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt was stuck in the team's doghouse for most of the 2024 season after clashing with the coaching staff and upper management, according to team insider Connor Hughes.

"He mentally checked out at points last season after clashing with the coaching staff and upper management," Hughes wrote. "There was no reason he should have been as uninvolved as he was at points last season. He’s a player with a skillset that the Giants should be able to use. Some players simply can’t get out of the doghouse. That was the problem last year."

We recently highlighted Hyatt as a player to watch in the Giants' OTAs this week after a horrendous 2024 season that saw him finish with just eight catches for 62 yards. Hyatt has yet to score a touchdown in the NFL after being selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and with New York's recent commitment to Darius Slayton -- he signed a three-year, $36 million deal this offseason -- the path to meaningful reps in Year 3 is less clear.

Still, Hyatt has the kind of vertical playmaking ability that should keep him in the mix for the Giants in 2025, especially with quarterback Russell Wilson being one of the NFL's top deep ball throwers. It's the first time in Hyatt's pro career that he'll pair with a quarterback who can take advantage of his best trait, which should at least give him an early-season opportunity to make some plays.

But any opportunity Hyatt gets will start with his commitment to the program. He can quickly turn the page on a lost season and prove to be a valuable piece of what's suddenly become an exciting New York Giants offense with very real upside.
