Every so often, the National Football League strays away from their often used nickname of being the No Fun League. On Wednesday, NFL teams were informed of a change to the uniform policy to allow a third helmet design.

The third helmet will come into play in 2025. Teams that were already re-designing their uniforms in 2024 were offered the option. This is a welcomed change for teams that already have their second helmet dedicated to their throwback uniforms.

If teams will want to do add a third helmet, they will need to notify the NFL by May 1, 2025.

Does this mean that the Minnesota Vikings will end up getting a third helmet? That would be a shift. The Vikings haven't done a lot with their uniforms as the Vikings Classic was the first shift they had made in over a decade.

However, a gold or black helmet could end up being fun.
