NFL Draft: Analytics trade charts hate Vikings trade ups image

The Minnesota Vikings have done a great job maneuvering the draft board on Thursday night in the first round. They selected J.J. McCarthy at 10th overall and followed it up with Alabama edge rusher Dallas Turner at 17th overall.

They did give up a significant amount of draft capital to make it happen and the analytics trade value charts aren't a big fan of it.

The classic trade charts don't mind this move for the Vikings, as they give up a fringe top-100 pick to make these moves. The analytics charts don't love it because they gave up a first-round pick in value. However, two of these trades were with a quarterback in mind and with analytics, it's okay to make these moves if they are for a quarterback.

Were they good moves for the Vikings? That remains to be seen. However, the vibes are high for the Vikings.
