Aaron Jones injury updates: Vikings star exits game vs. Jaguars with chest injury image

It’s been a rough go for the Minnesota Vikings on offense in Jacksonville, and it could get a lot tougher if star running back Aaron Jones can’t return to the game.

Jones was hit hard by Jaguars defenders Travon Walker and Foy Oluokun on a first down carry up the middle late in the third quarter.

Jones was in a considerable amount of pain after the play and seemed to be favoring his rib area:

Cam Akers, acquired via trade about a month ago, entered the game at running back for the Vikings, who had been driving but wound up settling for a field goal. Minnesota trails Jacksonville 7-6 with 1:42 remaining in the third.

An injury to Jones would be a brutal blow to a Vikings offense that has been struggling in recent weeks. He had rushed for 71 yards on 13 carries against the Jaguars, who have done well limiting opportunities for Vikings star Justin Jefferson in the passing game.

Aaron Jones injury status updates

3:30 p.m. (EST) — Jones was shown exiting the field on a cart at the start of the fourth quarter. He has been officially ruled questionable to return with a chest injury,

4 p.m. (EST) — Jones returned with 3:39 remaining in regulation and was able to finish the game.
