The Miami Dolphins are an interesting team to watch as the preseason continues, with the likelihood of some blowups looming. There has been drama and tension inside the Miami locker room in the past, and at times, the culture has been very toxic.
“Except this isn't a one-year issue with Miami. Set aside the iffy football decisions, like Grier's inability to field a stable offensive line or properly manage high-profile salaries over the course of a nine-year tenure featuring exactly zero playoff victories. Just from a culture perspective, Miami has been the NFL equivalent of an accident -- a controversy, a feud, a drama -- waiting to happen,” CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin wrote.
The Dolphins’ defense will be worth watching, as there is still a lot of uncertainty. Injuries have hurt the secondary so much that the team had to sign two veteran cornerbacks.
“Miami signed veteran cornerback Mike Hilton to help bolster the unit, NFL Network's Cam Wolfe reported on Saturday. The Dolphins announced earlier in the day that they had signed cornerback Jack Jones,” NFL.com’s Eric Edholm wrote.
If they decide to add another free agent to the cornerback room, SI’s Dante Collinelli believes it could be Asante Samuel Jr.
“From a purely football perspective, this appears to be a seamless fit. Samuel played under defensive coordinator Jesse Minter last season. Like Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Minter is a member of the Mike Macdonald coaching tree,” Collinelli wrote. “If the Dolphins signed Samuel, he would immediately be the best cornerback on the team, while providing some upside to be a starter for multiple seasons.”

This would be a great move for the Dolphins, but it could also be awkward considering Asante Samuel Sr. called out the franchise. However, if Miami can look past that, Samuel Jr. would be a valuable signing. The addition would bring experience and a player who is stellar when he’s able to get on the field.
