The Las Vegas Raiders hit the field for their first practice of training camp on Wednesday, and the wide receiver pecking order looked a bit different than expected.
According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the wide receivers on the Raiders' first-team offense during the 11-on-11 period were Dont'e Thornton, Tre Tucker, and Jakobi Meyers.
"Observations from Raiders camp. First 11-on-11 period featured a bunch of 3-LB sets with Roberts/White/Pratt. 1st-team offense, 11 personnel was consistently Thornton/Tucker/Meyers at WR," Bonsignore wrote on X.
Thornton and Tucker taking first team reps along with Meyers, who is the clear-cut No.1 receiver, is a bit shocking.
Second-round pick Jack Bech was expected to be a starter for Las Vegas this year, and though he could end up in the starting lineup by Week 1, it looks like he took second-team reps at Wednesday's practice.
Thornton, who was selected in the fourth round of April's draft, and Tucker, who is entering his third season, are dynamic vertical threats who fit well alongside Meyers and All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers.
Obviously, it's very early in camp, and there is still a long way to go before the Raiders kick off the 2025 campaign versus the New England Patriots on the road. However, it is still very intriguing that Thornton and Tucker are currently starting over Bech in camp.
