Former Las Vegas Raiders star Darren Waller is coming out of retirement, and he's doing so with a new team.

After spending one season with the New York Giants in 2023, Waller decided to hang up his cleats. However, he has decided to return to the NFL, but not with Big Blue.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Waller and a 2027 conditional seventh-round pick are being traded to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Waller will also sign a one-year deal worth up to $5 million with Miami.

Waller will now replace tight end Jonnu Smith, who the Dolphins traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, along with cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Waller spent five seasons with the Raiders, where he became one of the best tight ends in the NFL and posted two 1,100-yard seasons.

In 2021, Waller broke the franchise record for most receptions in a season with 107, but that has since been broken by Brock Bowers, who posted 112 in 2024.

Las Vegas traded Waller to the Giants in 2023 and he proceeded to post 552 yards and one touchdowns in 12 games.

The former Pro Bowler announced his retirement last summer.
