The Las Vegas Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles pulled off a trade on Monday night that has one team receiving praise and the other getting bashed.

The trade saw the Raiders deal cornerback Jakorian Bennett to the Eagles in exchange for defensive lineman Thomas Booker.

The problem with the trade is that the Raiders gave up a starting-caliber 25-year-old cornerback off a breakout season for a player who has started in just two games over 27 career contests and didn't play a snap in 2023.

Bennett's rookie campaign was a total disaster, but he flipped the script in 2024 and looked primed to start in 2025 after surrendering a completion rate of 52.3% and a passer rating of 67.7 in 10 games (his season ended early due to a torn labrum).

Once offseason practices started, it was clear Bennett wasn't in the Raiders' plans, as he wasn't running with the first-team defense at all. Many speculated that was a result of his size (5-foot-11, 195), which doesn't fit the mold Pete Carroll likes in his cornerbacks.

Even still, trading a young, promising cornerback for someone who is a depth piece was puzzling to say the least. Safe to say, many were down on the Raiders for this move.

"Never trade with Howie," Ted Nguyen of The Athletic wrote. "I get that Bennett doesn’t fit the Carroll profile but he was so productive last season and is so young. Don’t like this trade."

"The Raiders just handed Philly one of the most underrated young CBs in the league," said Elite Takes on X.

"Wait the Raiders traded Jakorian Bennett what are they doing," one fan wrote.

"Jakorian Bennett can’t tackle well enough to play nickel and doesn’t meet Pete Carroll’s obsession with height at CB. With that said trading him for a 4th string DT is insane," another fan wrote.

"I’m irritated about this Jakorian Bennett trade, nobody wanted that s*** man," said a frustrated fan.

Bennett will look to insert himself into the competition for the starting cornerback job opposite Quinyon Mitchell, while Booker hopes to secure at least a depth role with Las Vegas.
