Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty had a disappointing NFL debut.
The 2025 No.6 overall pick played just a handful of snaps during the Raiders' opening preseason game versus the Seattle Seahawks on August 7, but he got completely stuffed, rushing for -1 yards on three carries.
Jeanty struggled to find any running room last week in Seattle, but the Raiders' star rookie had a little bit more success this week versus the San Francisco 49ers.
Ashton Jeanty preseason Week 2 stats
Carries | 7 |
Rushing yards | 33 |
Touchdowns | 1 |
Yards per carry | 4.7 |
Receptions | 1 |
Receiving yards | 2 |
Longest rush | 13 |
Jeanty looked much more comfortable on Saturday against San Francisco. The 2024 Heisman Trophy candidate showcased his burst and power and was also able to find the end zone for the first time in his career.
Additionally, the offensive line did a much better job opening up rushing lanes for Jeanty this week compared to last week. The 21-year-old wasn't getting swallowed up at the line of scrimmage immediately on Saturday and found some breathing room.
Overall, it's great to see Jeanty bounce back and gain some positive momentum. He looked like the player we saw at Boise State last year.
