DeForest Buckner discusses relationship between Richardson, Jones amidst QB battle image

Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner recently went on The Up and Adams Show, discussing several topics with host Kay Adams.

Among the talking points for Buckner was Anthony Richardson Sr. and Daniel Jones, Indy’s two quarterbacks currently dueling for the starting position. Buckner commented on the competition between them, but suggested that there may be a friendlier relationship between the two than it seems from the outside.

"They both came in prepared and ready to go. They're working together,” Buckner said. “They celebrate each other, even though they're in competition and that's what you love to see. Healthy competition and they're both getting equal reps.

"At the end of the day, the coaches are going to make the decision and the team is going to rally behind whoever it is.”

Hearing the support they show each other seems slightly contradictory to how both passers have behaved since their battle commenced. Jones especially has deflected questions regarding his relationship with Richardson.

But what Buckner does reveal is that the team couldn’t care less who’s the starter. Whoever it is will have their unwavering support.

For now, Jones is in line to get the start in the Colts’ second preseason game against the Packers on Sunday.
