Tyler Goodson was waived by the Green Bay Packers just prior to the 2023 season. Six days later, the running back signed with the Colts and has remained a rock solid piece of their run game since.
With Indy hosting the Packers for their second game of preseason later this week, Goodson said he wants to make his former team regret their decision.
“I’m looking forward to the competition,” Goodson said about facing his former team. “I had them marked on my calendar last year and I have them marked on my calendar again.”
The Colts and Packers played their second regular games of 2024 in Green Bay, a game where the Colts offense sputtered en route to a 16-10 Packers win. Goodson is ready to battle.
Goodson’s impact was miniscule, making just a single two-yard catch. He knows he’s capable of more and wants to prove to Green Bay that they made a mistake by letting him go.
“There’s nothing like playing a team you’ve played before,” he said. “For me, it’s a chance to show their coaches ‘maybe you should’ve kept me.”
Goodson said he has a chip on his shoulder. While it is preseason and results won’t count in the long run, a victory may go a long way for Goodson to build up the necessary confidence to hold down a regular position in Indy’s rotation.
