The Green Bay Packers already know that one of their games will be featured on Monday Night Football in Week 10 of the regular season. They'll face the Philadelphia Eagles, who not only won the Super Bowl last season but also ended the Packers’ playoff run. The matchup promises to be intense under the primetime lights.

“The other kind of storyline of that game is the fact that this whole 'tush push,' it was the Packers who actually... they were the biggest proponents of trying to get it taken out of the game," Troy Aikman said. "It hasn't been ruled out yet but there's a good chance we won't have it this year."

Green Bay benefits from a favorable travel schedule this year, covering just 12,929 miles across all their games—a nearly 10,000-mile reduction from last season. That could provide a meaningful boost throughout the year.

On Wednesday morning, the Packers learned who they'll face in Week 1.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, Green Bay will open the season at Lambeau Field against their NFC North rival, the Detroit Lions. Last season, the Lions dominated the series, winning both matchups in convincing fashion. The season opener won’t be easy for the Packers—it’s starting out as a battle.

First-round pick Matthew Golden will make his debut in one of the NFL’s fiercest rivalries. Golden has impressed so much during rookie camp that the Packers may consider trading a veteran wide receiver.

“The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up," Albert Breer wrote. "It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development."

Week 1 is shaping up to be an exciting start to the season, as one of the NFL’s most storied rivalries takes center stage.
