The Green Bay Packers are gearing up for the season, and players are enjoying their last few weeks off before the team reunites for final preparations. The Packers are aiming for a strong year and hope to bolster an exciting offense, even though QB Jordan Love could return to the inconsistent form he showed last season.
“Love is already willing to take too many risks as a quarterback. If the Packers offensive line doesn't jell and Golden doesn't add much to the passing game, we could see more of the ugly side of the signal-caller's game,” Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine said.
However, most of the positional needs come from the defensive side, where the Packers appear somewhat young and thin in certain spots. The team could be looking to trade a former first-round pick who hasn’t developed as expected.
“The Baltimore Ravens’ defense hasn’t been the same for the past two seasons since losing Patrick Queen and Jadeveon Clowney. Even though they’ve seen some bright spots from Odafe Oweh, it’s enough to compensate for the production that the team hasn’t seen from Broderick Washington and Travis Jones. Following Michael Pierce’s retirement, the team just signed journeyman John Jenkins to take over, but someone like Van Ness could provide some type of stability in this core group,” Last Word on Sports’ Anthony Palicios wrote.
Van Ness simply hasn’t lived up to expectations during his short time with Green Bay. Early on, he didn’t receive the snaps he anticipated.
“Whatever snaps were freed up by Smith’s departure weren’t handed to Van Ness. Instead, Brenton Cox and Arron Mosby got more opportunities and largely delivered. Both Cox and Mosby put interesting reps on tape last year as pass rushers, though their size made them liabilities in the run game,” Joe Meerdink wrote.

Moving Van Ness while he’s still young and obtaining some assets in return wouldn’t be a bad move. Moreover, a trade to the Ravens would place Van Ness on a winning team with Super Bowl aspirations.
