The Green Bay Packers are all in on Jordan Love — and rightfully so, given his immense potential. If the Packers want to have a successful season, it will largely depend on Love's performance.
“It’s Jordan Love time. Only one offensive player on the roster (two-time Pro Bowl guard Elgton Jenkins), and three players in total, predate the quarterback’s time with the team. He’s on a top-of-market deal, so the onus is on him to start lifting his teammates rather than the other way around. The roster’s still solid, but competitions at left tackle and receiver will help set the course for how far the team can go, and Love’s work through any bumps at those spots will be key,” SI’s Albert Breer wrote.
However, concern arose on Monday when Love was seen dealing with a thumb injury during practice.
“Jordan Love having a lengthy post-practice chat with Matt LaFleur and trainers Bryan Engel and Nate Weir. Seems to have his left thumb wrapped and was flexing it for them. Love wasn’t limited in practice today, for what it’s worth. He did hand off one ball that I saw with his right hand instead of his left that he’d normally hand off with his left,” posted The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman.
Now, there’s growing worry that Love’s injury could force the Packers to temporarily alter their offensive scheme until he’s fully healthy. ESPN Milwaukee’s Kyle Wallace didn’t hold back in his criticism of Love’s durability.
“I love me some Jordan Love, I do, but somebody’s got to say it. He is injury prone. Jordan Love is an injury prone quarterback,” Wallace said. “He’s been injured two out of the three seasons that he’s been here in Green Bay. It is a concerning trend that I have.”

Wallace's comments were sharp — and while there may be some truth to the concern, this particular injury doesn’t appear serious enough to impact Love’s availability for the regular season. If something happens during the season, then the conversation might be different. For now, though, it seems like an overreaction to a minor preseason issue.
Love is expected to return soon and will aim to play a full, healthy season.
