An athletic, jaw-dropping interception might have played a key role in deciding who will be the Detroit Lions' QB2. A competition is underway between Hendon Hooker and Kyle Allen for the backup spot behind Jared Goff.
Here's what happened.
In the final minutes of the tightly contested preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, the Lions were pushing down the field, aiming to take the lead. The Dolphins, holding a 24-17 advantage, needed a red zone stop to secure the win.
That crucial moment came when cornerback Ethan Robinson made an incredibly athletic interception off a blitz from the edge, ending the Lions' drive and sealing the game for Miami.
Hooker was visibly impressed. "I've never seen someone jump so high," he said, according to MLive's Kory Woods.
Despite the interception, Hooker stood by his decision, adding that there was nothing he would have done differently with the throw.

In today's Week 2 preseason game against the Dolphins, both QBs played one half each. Allen closed out the first half impressively, completing 14-of-17 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
In the second half, Hooker's performance didn't quite measure up to Allen's strong showing. The acrobatic interception only added to the challenges he faced.
