Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa is making noise at training camp.
Head coach Dan Campbell stated during a press conference on Saturday that TeSlaa and fellow rookie receiver Dominic Lovett were off to great starts in camp.
The expert below is from Brad Galli of WXYZ Detroit.
"Dan Campbell said Lions rookie wide receivers Dominic Lovett and Isaac TeSlaa are doing really well mentally, and they're both impressing," Galli wrote.
"Lovett has popped more early on the field, but TeSlaa had a really good day yesterday," Campbell said about his rookie receivers.
During Saturday's practice, TeSlaa made a highlight reel catch to end practice, hauling in a contested ball from quarterback Hendon Hooker, per Pride of Detroit's Jeremy Reisman.
"Practice ends with another Hooker dime to TeSlaa. Tight coverage from DiCaprio, but TeSlaa came down with it for a 30-ish yard gain (maybe TD)," Reisman wrote.
Reisman also added on X that TeSlaa is showcasing his big-play potential, though he does have to show more consistency.
"IMO, TeSlaa still has a ways to go for down-to-down consistency, but the big play potential has certainly flashed," Reisman wrote on X.
TeSlaa was widely regarded as a reach when Detroit traded up in the third round of April's draft to select him. However, the Arkansas product is catching some eyes at camp and could be making an early case to have a role on the Lions' offense in 2025.
Detroit's wide receiver room could use some more speed and dynamic ability to pair with Jameson Williams. All-Pro Amon-Ra St. Brown is great, but he doesn't provide much explosive play potential.
TeSlaa could be the explosive playmaker the Lions need to take the offense to another level. We'll be keeping a close eye on his progress in camp.
