For a team that was decimated by injuries in 2024, things are not off to a good start for the Detroit Lions.
On Sunday, head coach Dan Campell revealed that Levi Onwuzurike is out for the season. Then, just hours later, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. suffered a chest injury that, thankfully, only turned out to be a contusion.
Now, on Monday, the Lions saw both Sione Vaki and Roy Lopez exit practice early with injuries.
According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Vaki is being evaluated for a leg injury while Lopez "pulled up in one drill" before talking to trainers and heading to the sideline.
The good news is, Lopez did not go inside, which indicates it isn't too serious. It would appear that Lopez is dealing with a leg issue, also, but that hasn't been confirmed.

The injury to Lopez is particularly noteworthy, as the Lions are already shorthanded along the defensive line thanks to the injury to Onwuzurike, and with Alim McNeill uncertain to be ready for the start of the season as he recovers from a torn ACL.
"Now that we're done, I gotta get back on the field as fast as I can," McNeill said of his return. "I'm not gonna rush or anything but I'm gonna push myself for sure."
The Lions are in much better shape at running back, where Vaki isn't likely to be anything more than the No. 4 or 5 on the depth chart. He is, however, a valuable member of the special teams unit and a potential return man.
