The Detroit Lions looked to be in midseason form in their first of two joint sessions with the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.
The Lions' domination wasn't just on offense, though. According to beat writers on the ground, Detroit's defense also had a standout showing.
"Lions defense had the most dominant joint practice I’ve ever witnessed," Pride of Detroit's Reisman reported after the session.
"In red zone 11-on-11 drills, the Dolphins 1 and 2 offensive teams were held out of the end zone until the very last rep — 16 or 17 plays deep," Reisman added.
"That was the most lopsided joint practice I’ve ever seen. Lions dominated both sides," The Athletic's Colton Pouncy wrote.
Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown appears to have been the star of the show.
"Amon-Ra St Brown made multiple great catches in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills against Miami’s defense, including a pair of red zone TDs," wrote Local 4 WDIV reporter Hobie Artigue.

"Amon-Ra St. Brown just beat Dolphins CB Jack Jones for two straight TDs in Red Zone drills — the first a bread-basket, one-handed snag in the corner of the end zone," Pride of Detroit's Al Karsten said.
"On the day, St. Brown might be sitting at 12+ catches for 250+ yards. He’s been flawless with no drops and constantly open in every drill," Karsten added.
Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com said, "Offense looked great today, especially the Goff to St. Brown connection, and the defense has a chance to be very good. Great day overall for Lions so far."
The Dolphins will look to rebound when the two teams meet for their second joint practice on Thursday. After that, Miami and Detroit will meet at Ford Field for preseason Week 2 on Saturday.
