Denver Broncos position preview: Cornerback depth chart in training camp image

The Denver Broncos have one of the best cornerbacks in the league in Pat Surtain II, but there is a legitimate question about how the team will build the secondary around him.

In our last position preview, we take a look at cornerbacks. Training camp is already underway but this group will feature some of the best position battles ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

The Broncos will need a player to step up at this position that is either new to the team or didn't play well last season.

Starters

Pat Surtain, Levi Wallace, Ja'Quan McMillian

Levi Wallace was the veteran addition the team signed in free agency. He will likely open the preseason as the starting boundary corner opposite Surtain, but there will be open competition for it.

Ja'Quan McMillian earned the role as the slot corner with his performance last year.

Second-String

Riley Moss, Damarri Mathis, Kris Abrams-Draine

This is a nice collection of untapped potential, but the Broncos need at least one of these guys to step up and play at a high level this season.

Others

Tremon Smith, Art Green, Tanner McAlister, Quinton Newsome, Reese Taylor

Tremon Smith made the team last year for his special teams ability and Art Green was on the practice squad all season after going undrafted. It feels like all of these guys are competing for spots on the practice squad unless there is an injury to one of the players listed ahead of them.
