The Denver Broncos have made a minor change in the tight end room.
The team first waived Cole Fotheringham with an injury settlement, making his tenure with the team a short one. Fotheringham was able to earn a contract as a tryout player during the team's rookie minicamp, but an injury will prevent him from being on the roster for training camp.
To replace him, the Broncos have signed another tight end, Caden Prieskorn.
Prieskorn went to high school in Orchard Lake Village, Michigan and helped his team win the state title as a junior. In college, he walked on at the University of Memphis. He had 48 receptions for 602 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022 before transferring to Ole Miss, where he finished his college career.
He caught 57 passes for 850 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons with the Rebels and was named MVP of the 2023 Peach Bowl. He went undrafted this spring but signed with the Detroit Lions in May. It looked like a great fit for him, playing for his hometown team.
But the Lions released him three days later.
He now gets a chance with the Broncos on a team that isn't exactly deep at tight end. Despite adding Evan Engram in free agency, the only other tight ends on the roster are Adam Trautman, Lucas Krull, Nate Adkins and Caleb Lohner.
Prieskorn is a 6-foot-6, athletic player with good hands. There could be a spot for him on the practice squad if he performs well this summer.
