Following the 2025 NFL Draft, inside linebacker Jordan Turner was not signed by any team. Instead, he took a chance at a tryout during the Denver Broncos' minicamp and was able to parlay that into a contract with the team.
Turner was one of four tryout players offered contracts on that day and with his foot in the door, he will now set his sights on making a bigger impact this summer.
Denver Broncos Undrafted Free Agent Spotlight
Name: Jordan Turner
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 231
Position: Inside linebacker
School: Michigan State
Turner's college career began at Wisconsin, where he played under Jim Leonhard, then the Badgers' defensive coordinator. Leonhard is now on the coaching staff in Denver and will be familiar with what Turner can and can't do.
He transferred to Michigan State for his final season and had 66 tackles and three sacks. For his college career, he racked up 201 tackles and eight sacks and five interceptions. He has shown three-down potential and could be a future asset on passing downs.
Turner was born in Farmington, Michigan and was a three-star recruit coming out of high school.
Chances to make 53-man roster (1-10 scale): 2
One has to wonder why Turner was not signed by any of the other teams in the league and had to win a contract in a tryout. Still, he managed to do that and if there's a team to come to if you're an inside linebacker, the Broncos could have plenty of opportunity.
The starters are set with Dre Greenlaw and Alex Singleton, but both of them have suffered major knee injuries in their career. Behind them are Drew Sanders and Justin Strnad and there may not be a player on the roster facing more uncertainty this offseason than Sanders.
That led the Broncos to sign multiple inside linebackers through the undrafted process, presenting a major opportunity for Karene Reid, JB Brown and Turner. Levelle Bailey, an undrafted player who had a strong summer last year, will also be in the mix.
It could be considered likely that one of those players will make the 53-man roster with the uncertainty on the depth chart. Turner would likely be behind Bailey, Reid and Brown in the pecking order, at least to begin with, but if he can show that he can hold up in the passing game, he could be a sneaky pick to make the squad.
