The Dallas Cowboys announced that Dak Prescott will not play at all this pre-season.

He won’t even make an appearance in the last preseason game of the season.

The Cowboys are starting backup Joe Milton again, who has had a subpar preseason so far.

"I'm learning, Joe," said head coach Brian Schottenheimer via the Cowboys team site. "I'm learning how to call a game with Joe as [our] quarterback. I think that's a big part. You're going to call a game differently with Geno Smith than you would with Russell Wilson. You're going to call a game differently with Mark Sanchez than you would Mark Brunell, you know?

Is it a mistake, however, to just play Joe Milton and not give Prescott a few reps before the season starts?

Micah Parsons thinks so. Although he didn’t call out his team directly, it's clear he was referring to their decision not to play Prescott in the preseason when he tweeted this last night on X.

“This is what was needed! We’ve just become soft in my generation! You have gotta figure what’s wrong in preseason, they will become better from it!”

You can understand where Parsons is coming from. Prescott needs to get reps to shake the cobwebs off before the season starts, as the Bengals and Commanders did Monday night with Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels.

However, if you look at the flip side of this, if Prescott is hurt again before the season even starts, it would be a disaster for the Cowboys, especially considering how their seasons have unfolded when Prescott has been injured before.

Bengal fans' hearts almost stopped when Burrow was aggressively dragged to the ground when he was sacked. It was a scary moment, which proved the Cowboys may be right in protecting Dak Prescott.
