Dallas Cowboys EDGE Micah Parsons plans on sitting out games until his highly publicized contract situation is settled. Jerry Jones and Co. have no problems letting Parsons cite back tightness as the reason he isn’t playing.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio believes the Cowboys’ brain trust is even daring Parsons to continue citing it to excuse his absence.

“Remember, he’s not sitting out as a business decision. He’s citing back tightness. If he’s willing to continue to ride that wave, he’ll be able to not play until he gets his new contract,” Florio wrote.

“The Cowboys seem to be daring him to do it. Calling his bluff to see if he truly won’t play in Week 1 and beyond.

“Regardless, if Parsons is going to play in Week 1, he needs to start getting ready soon.”

In the event things get contentious enough for Jones and Parsons to part ways, Parsons would fetch a monster return on the trade market. Though there are no indications that a trade is imminent, things change quickly.

Former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum listed three potential trade scenarios for the Cowboys if they eventually give up on resolving the Parsons situation.

The first is a blockbuster with the Buffalo Bills, where Dallas would land Ed Oliver and two first-round picks. The second is a package from the Detroit Lions involving Brian Branch, a first-round pick, and two second-round picks. Finally, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ package would see the Cowboys land Bucky Irving, Vita Vea, and a first-round pick.

Don’t expect a Parsons deal, but expect this type of return if the narrative changes.
