Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has had a reputation at times for being a difficult player.
The former Georgia wideout, while he was with the Pittsburgh Steelers, garnered that reputation, and Pickens has an explanation as to why: Pickens says he’s an alien.
Yes, you heard right. Pickens compares himself to an alien.
“I just think I’m an alien. Period. For real, for real. Just by the stuff I be doing, how I carry myself on and off the field.”
Pickens seems to be a new man since coming to Dallas, and it’s been evident in his attitude on and off the field; he appears, for the first time in a long time, genuinely happy.
Teammate Cee Dee Lamb says that since Pickens' arrival, you can already see the difference on offense.
“ I mean, it’s pretty much night and day,” Lamb said.
"When I have two guys on me, I can guarantee the ball is going to him," Lamb said of Pickens, via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "When two guys are on me, he’s one-on-one. Do what you want with that info. It’s honestly fun.”
The one thing this offense has been missing the past few years is another wideout to help Cee Dee Lamb. Since Amari Cooper was traded a few years ago, Lamb has carried the load for the Dallas receiving corps.
But with Pickens there, it frees Lamb to be more effective, and that also helps Pickens, who had been handcuffed in Pittsburgh because of poor QB play. He can be assured that he will see the ball more often than he did in Pittsburgh.
As long as he plays well, the Cowboys won’t mind Pickens calling himself an alien as long as his play is out of this world.
