Cowboys' Micah Parsons makes announcement on contract negotiations, minicamp holdout image

Micah Parsons has spoken.

No, a record-setting contract extension hasn't been reached between the Dallas Cowboys and their star edge rusher.

But Parsons is planning to make a key decision soon.

There won't be an all-out holdout by Parsons, at least right now, based on what he wrote on X on Tuesday night.

"I will be there!" Parsons wrote about next week's minicamp. "I haven’t missed a mini camp in 4 years! Even though the contract is not done, I have teammates and a playbook ! I’m preparing as if I will be on the field the first week of camp! But it’s in the owner’s hands. I’m ready to win a Super Bowl !"

Parsons certainly could've taken a different attitude than that, so that's good to see.

Maybe his tune will change if the contract takes a couple more months to complete, but right now, he isn't doing too bad.

Parsons will almost certainly earn more than the four-year, $160 million extension signed by Myles Garrett. The expectation is he'll also beat Ja'Marr Chase's $40.25 million per year rate.

The former Penn State star will almost assuredly be the highest-paid non-QB in football. Jerry and Stephen Jones don't really have any choice in that matter while they lead the Cowboys' negotiating team.

Unless Dallas is seriously considering not extending Parsons, which pretty much can't be the case, it's worth just getting the deal done now. A happy Parsons would be great for the Cowboys.
