As the saga between Micah Parsons and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones continues, we are starting to get a better insight as to why the relationship between the two has fallen apart.
A lot, according to Dallas Cowboys insider Clarence Williams, is because of Jones. Although he says that he wants to get negotiations back under way, he admitted the other day that he doesn’t believe Parsons will be ready for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jones’ refusal to put his ego aside is why things have fallen apart between the two parties.
Williams said that Jones hasn’t reached out to Parsons' agent, and they haven’t talked since last Friday, despite saying signing Parsons was urgent.
Williams questions Jones' urgency to resign from Parsons.
“How you urgent Jerry? Are you calling the agent? Are you talking to the principal? Are you trying to mend this fence? How can you be urgent when you are not talking to the principal? How you are urgent when you are not talking to the principals or trying to talk to the principal. Nobody in your organization's front office is not talking to the principals. How does that look urgent?” Williams said.
Williams is not the only one questioning the urgency of the head man of the Cowboys. Former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant basically echoed what Parsons is going through with Jones with saying he did him the same way; he ghosted him during negotiations, a charge Jones denies, but it appears that Bryant was right.
Jones seems to want the players to come to him, rather than him humbling himself and going to them.
As long as this continues to play out, the less likely that the pair will come together to hammer out a deal, but if it happens, it looks as if Parsons will have to make the first move.
