The Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons situation just isn’t going in the franchise’s favor at this point. Parsons is one of the best pass rushers in the game, but team owner Jerry Jones made the unusual decision to negotiate a deal without involving Parsons’ agent.

“The fact that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys believe they can negotiate a 9-figure extension with Micah Parsons without involving his agent says everything about the current state of the franchise. This entire situation is laughable from the Dallas side. It could’ve — and should’ve — been avoided. But instead, the Cowboys operated with pure arrogance, foolishness and stubbornness,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted.

This approach frustrated Parsons and caused him to lose confidence in the team’s direction regarding his contract. As a result, he made the decision to request a trade from the Cowboys.

“Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,” Parsons posted.

While trading a star like Parsons would be a bold move, it might be the smarter play at this point. He’s already unhappy, and moving on could save the team a massive financial commitment. Though the Cowboys aren’t obligated to honor his trade request, they could still get solid value in return.

NFL.com’s Eric Edholm believes a perfect landing spot for Parsons could be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“If all goes well, the Buccaneers offense could be a monster this season. It was pretty darned good a year ago. But defensively, there’s work to be done if Tampa fancies itself a Super Bowl contender. Adding Parsons is the kind of move that can put a team like the Bucs over the top,” Edholm wrote. “The Bucs appear to have the salary cap flexibility to take on a massive contract, and they might be closer to title contention than some realize.”

A move to Florida would be massive for the Bucs, especially with the NFC South wide open. With the Panthers and Saints not expected to contend, a blockbuster trade could push Tampa Bay to the top—and Parsons would surely welcome a big payday in a new situation.
