The Micah Parsons saga is one that probably never should’ve happened—for the Cowboys or their ownership. But it has reached that point, and now they’re feeling the consequences of Jerry Jones attempting to negotiate a deal without involving Parsons’ agent.
“The fact that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys believe they can negotiate a 9-figure extension with Micah Parsons without involving his agent says everything about the current state of the franchise. This entire situation is laughable from the Dallas side. It could’ve — and should’ve — been avoided. But instead, the Cowboys operated with pure arrogance, foolishness and stubbornness,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted.
Jones’ decision appears to have upset Parsons, who went on to formally request a trade.
“Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,” Parsons posted.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, however, believes Parsons and the team can still work things out.
“No. Not necessarily,” Prescott said. “I think if I wouldn’t have been in his shoes, and watched other guys be in his shoes and get rewarded, maybe. But I’ve got faith in the Joneses and the team, as I do in Micah and his team. Eleven is a Cowboy.”

While a resolution would be the best-case scenario for Dallas, some believe trading Parsons could ultimately be the smarter move.
“If Parsons is prepared to leave, the Cowboys should see what they can get in return. They're unlikely to be serious Super Bowl contenders within the next few seasons, and paying more than $130 million per year for three players would be hard to justify if they aren't,” Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox wrote.
Prescott has built a strong relationship with Parsons, as has the rest of the team. His hope is rooted in that bond. The Dallas QB remains optimistic that a deal will get done and has made it clear he doesn’t think Parsons is going anywhere—hoping that Jones and Parsons can eventually repair the relationship.
