The Cleveland Browns have been one of the epicenters for NFL headlines this offseason. This is due in large part to their crowded quarterback room, featuring four new signal-callers who weren't in Cleveland in 2024.
Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders make up the ongoing quarterback battle, and it's the latter of which has garnered the most attention, despite it being unlikely he will be the Week 1 starter. This prompted Jason Whitlock to make the comparison to former Florida and Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.
"They're turning him into gold-chain wearing Tim Tebow," Whitlock said. "I just think it's going to blow up in their faces."
The point that Whitlock is making, though, is that he's not the most talented quarterback and he's getting the attention of a superstar. And while Sanders would have to be very bad to be as bad as Tebow, the media firestorm that follows him everywhere is an understandable point to look at with the comparison.
Tebow helped lead the Broncos to the postseason and won a playoff game for the Broncos in the 2011 season, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wild card round. If Sanders does that, fans likely won't care about the outside noise that comes with him.
