The Cleveland Browns' quarterback battle has been one of the most talked about situations in the NFL this offseason. Now that training camp is in full swing, the Browns will be able to determine who their starting quarterback will be between Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders.
Pickett seems to be one of the favorites when it comes to the four-way fight, as he has earned many of the first-team reps. Browns star defender Greg Newsome says he likes Pickett because he reminds him of Baker Mayfield.
"Kenny Pickett has always been one of my favorite guys to compete against," Newsome said on 92.3 The Fan. "He's a guy that reminds me of that tenacity Baker had."
Mayfield led the Browns to their last playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2020 season, which remains the team's only playoff victory since their return to the NFL in 1999. The Browns traded him in 2022 after acquiring Deshaun Watson, which has turned out to be one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history.
We'll see if Pickett ends up being the guy under center Week 1. As it stands right now, it certainly looks like he's in good position to do so.
