Luke Floriea was having a dream summer as he attempted to make his hometown Cleveland Browns.
Then he hurt his hamstring.
Floriea exited the preseason opener on Friday night after coming up limping following an incredible one-handed catch down the sideline on a pass from Shedeur Sanders.
He was quickly ruled out with a hamstring injury, and on Monday, the news got worse.
The Browns released Floriea with an injury designation.

The graduate of Mentor High School, just east of Cleveland, was making a case to make the Browns roster. He's not a big target, but he starred at Kent State and was said to be unguardable at times in Browns camp.
Now, his future has a bit more uncertainty.
Browns reporter Brad Stainbrook did post some good news on X following the release, though. He reported it's a Grade 2 hamstring injury that won't need surgery and has a timetable of 2-3 weeks for recovery.
Further, Stainbrook reports the Browns want to re-sign Floriea when healthy and potentially have him start the season on the practice squad.

Floriea wasn't even a priority UDFA signee. He didn't get a contract for the summer until impressing at rookie minicamp.
So in that context, a practice squad spot would be a big win.
It's just a bit of a bummer after how well his summer had been going that a pesky hamstring is the thing that slows him down.
