The Cleveland Browns took a chance on veteran wide receiver Diontae Johnson, signing him to a one-year deal after a terrible 2024 season.
Last March, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded Johnson to the Carolina Panthers. Ahead of the trade deadline, Johnson was traded to the Baltimore Ravens before being released amidst rumors of internal tension and disagreements on playing time. He then signed with the Houston Texans very briefly before being released once again. The Browns decided to take a chance on the former Pro Bowler. However, they may live to regret it.
Johnson didn't attend OTAs. And while these workouts are voluntary, a player who had a year like Johnson should be looking to take advantage of every opportunity he has to prove himself as a starting-caliber wideout for the Browns. This could all end up being nothing, but it's not the best semantics for a guy whose image is already in need of some rehabilitation.
