Browns' chances of cutting or trading Shedeur Sanders increase with injury update image

Shedeur Sanders is fighting an uphill battle.

It began the moment his NFL Draft free fall did. As soon as Sanders wasn't a first-round quarterback, his chances of making it as a QB in this league began to fall.

Past the second round, past the third round, past the fourth round, too.

All the way to the fifth round, and the No. 144 overall pick to the Cleveland Browns.

It's a brutal spot to be, because the Browns have four quarterbacks all competing for action. Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett are the veterans. And then there's Dillon Gabriel, who went 50 picks before Sanders, another rookie.

What's a guy to do?

And now, Sanders is hurt.

The Browns announced Sanders wasn't practicing at training camp on Saturday due to arm soreness.

That's not an ideal thing for a QB to have, a sore arm.

Pickett is already hurt, only doing individual drills, but he's expected back to full strength soon.

It doesn't sound like Sanders' injury is serious, but it does matter.

There are only so many chances to make an impression, and any time missed by Sanders increases the danger of him getting cut or traded.

If he can't show the Browns what he can do, why keep him around? They've got the least investment in him as a player, besides that they just took him.

There probably wouldn't be a ton of trade interest in Sanders, given that teams didn't take him when given the chance to in the draft.

Sanders' future is still quite uncertain, and this injury doesn't help the cause.
