After hovering around the .500 mark in each of the last two years, the Bengals are hoping to reassert themselves as Super Bowl contenders in the new NFL season.
They certainly have the requisite weapons on offense to return to national prominence. Quarterback Joe Burrow just posted the best season of his career, leading the NFL in passing yards (4,918) and passing touchdowns (43). Fully healthy entering his sixth year in the league, Burrow seems primed for more dominance.
Then there's Ja'Marr Chase, arguably the best receiver in the NFL. Last season, Chase led all players in total receptions (127), receiving yards (1,708) and receiving touchdowns (17). Like Burrow, it was the best season of Chase's young career.
But to make their way back to the playoffs, the Bengals will need far more than just Burrow and Chase. There's plenty of pressure on the defense, which was one of the worst units in the league last season, allowing 25.5 points per game. All eyes will be on first-year defensive coordinator Al Golden.

Two of the Bengals' three preseason games will air locally in Cincinnati on WXIX Fox19, with Mike Watts (play-by-play), Anthony Munoz (analyst) and Marisa Contipelli (sideline reporter) expected to call the action. The second game of Cincinnati's three-game slate will air nationally on ESPN.
