Bears rookie WR Luther Burden III returns to practice field in limited fashion image

The Chicago Bears got good news on the first day of padded practice on Monday, as second-round rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III finally return to the practice field. After suffering a core injury in rookie minicamp, Burden had been missing for the beginning of training camp while details about his injury were limited.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that Burden had returned to practice but it was noted that he only took part in individual drills, and did not take part in the padded portion of the day.

Getting the rookie on the practice field is not only important for his own growth and development, but in the first year with head coach Ben Johnson and his offense, having all weapons available will be crucial. Burden joins a wide receiver room headlined by veteran DJ Moore and last year's first-round pick, Rome Odunze.

There's still one more step to go for Burden III, and that's to return to all activities and be a full participant in camp.
