Bears' DJ Moore breaks silence on being used as a running back in Ben Johnson's offense image

The Chicago Bears seem intent on moving DJ Moore around on the field this season.

At times during training camp, the star wide receiver has lined up in the backfield and even taken carries, looking a bit like a running back.

It's a role Moore hasn't ever really had before, but it appears new head coach and offensive mastermind Ben Johnson is trying to get the ball in the hands of his best players as much as possible.

Moore spoke with the Chicago Sun-Times to share his feelings on the positional adjustment, saying that it's been "daunting" but that this is why he gets "paid the big bucks."

His approach?

"Just be an athlete at this point. Just do it all and just attack it."

The Bears had a brutally bad running game last year with D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson, and this offseason, they only added seventh-rounder Kyle Monangai. They've also continued to look for answers in the backfield, recently working out veteran Jamaal Williams, although they didn't sign him.

In Moore's NFL career, he has 57 runs for 431 yards and a touchdown. Last season, he had 14 for 75, but they weren't a garden-variety running action like this.

Moore is a great receiver, with 98 grabs for 966 yards and six scores in Caleb Williams' rookie season.

The 28-year old should still catch plenty of passes from Caleb.

But maybe he'll be getting a few more handoffs from the young QB, too, and he's ready for that chance.
