The Atlanta Falcons have been one of the more intriguing teams to follow as the offseason transitions into training camp. Initially, Atlanta explored options to move Kirk Cousins, but after a lengthy effort, those possibilities dried up. Now, the Falcons appear to be in wait-and-see mode, monitoring the rest of the league for potential quarterback injuries.

“But the moment that somebody hits their thumb on a helmet. The moment that somebody pulls up lame with a hamstring, the moment that anything happens to any quarterback, the first question is going to be: is this the team that trades for Kirk Cousins?” said NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

One team that could emerge as a potential trade partner is the Los Angeles Rams. Matthew Stafford has been sidelined during training camp, and the team insists it's nothing serious.

“He still hasn’t practiced in training camp but the Rams do not sound concerned. This sounds more like a maintenance issue where they’re being smart with their 37-year-old QB who they feel like doesn’t need the work necessarily right now. And they feel like if there were a game today, Stafford would be able to play,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said.

Despite the Rams' public stance, some remain skeptical — including The Falcoholic’s Adnan Ikic, who echoed Pelissero’s thoughts and suggested that Los Angeles may want to consider a veteran like Cousins.

“Yea, a two-week ‘maintenance’ where he saw a back specialist twice in that time. Just call us up, Rams, we’ve got one lightly used Kirk Cousins ready to save your season,” Ikic posted.

The Rams and Falcons previously made a deal during the NFL Draft in April, so there’s already a working relationship between the two front offices. Rams head coach Sean McVay has stated he doesn't want to rush Stafford and risk a setback. That’s exactly where Cousins could come into play — if Stafford’s injury turns out to be more serious than publicly acknowledged.

A trade to Los Angeles would give Cousins what he wants: a starting job. And while Stafford may still suit up for the Rams, his injury history — particularly with his back — adds uncertainty. Back injuries can be notoriously tricky, and reinjury remains a real concern.
