The Atlanta Falcons are looking to take the next step this season after coming so close last year. Atlanta was in prime position to win the NFC South, but ultimately allowed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to claim the division once again. One of the biggest questions of the offseason has been whether the Falcons will trade Kirk Cousins. For now, Cousins remains with the team, though he could find himself in Pittsburgh at some point.

“The Steelers have signaled, and even publicly expressed, their confidence that Rodgers will wind up on their roster. And if he doesn’t, I’d imagine they’d explore a trade for Kirk Cousins,” Albert Breer wrote.

The Falcons made bold moves in the draft, selecting Jalon Walker and trading up for James Pearce. These picks addressed their defensive needs and have been praised by Maxx Crosby.

“We’re going all in. We’re drafting two d-ends in the first round. We don’t give a f---. It’s the two best athletes we think in our opinion. They got two young ballers who are going to go in there and develop and hopefully be two bookends for years to come. That’s what they envision in those guys. And both of them, I’ve watched their film—dogs!” Crosby said.

Now, the Falcons are looking to add a veteran wide receiver behind their returning trio. A prime candidate just became available after being cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Gabe Davis, who signed a three-year deal with the Jaguars, had a disappointing season, leading to his release.

“In fact, a receiver just released on Wednesday should be at the top of the Falcons’ FA WR target list. The Jacksonville Jaguars released veteran wide receiver Gabe Davis after one year with the club,” Jovan Alford wrote.

The Falcons are in great shape if Darnell Mooney and Drake London continue their success from last season. Adding Davis to the mix could make the wide receiver room nearly unstoppable.
