Urban Meyer will defend his former team every chance he can, which includes the Ohio State Buckeyes. Meyer has been out of coaching for quite sometime, but his passion for the Buckeyes still runs deep.

The latest example of this came recently when Meyer appeared on “The Herd With Colin Cowherd” to discuss the future of the USC Trojans football program. Simply put, Meyer says the Trojans' recent shortcomings would not be tolerated in Columbus, and the California outrage for Lincoln Riley is justified.

“Well I guess the way I've always looked at USC is I equate them to Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and, you know, Florida,” Meyer said. “I've always looked at USC as one of the top five jobs in America.”

So far, the Trojans have failed considerably to reach rugged expectations in the Big Ten this past season as they failed to qualify for the College Football Playoff in their first season in the newly-expanded conference.

Whether an instant turnaround happens remains to be seen, but Meyer has appeared to drop the hammer on the Trojans while dismissing the Wolverines altogether

When seven (or) eight wins is acceptable at USC that’s when you have (a problem)... Go 8-5 at Ohio State and see what happens,” Meyer said.

The Buckeyes, meanwhile, won their first national title since the Meyer era. So, if anyone knows how hard it is to win consistently at the highest level, Meyer is probably a safe bet.

Come August, Meyer's message will soon take on an entirely different meaning.
