UNC’s Bill Belichick plays damage control after girlfriend Jordon Hudson derails CBS interview image

Bill Belichick has been the talk of the town over the past week—not because of the impressive things he's doing with the North Carolina program, but because of the spotlight his partner, Jordon Hudson, has cast on him. Hudson is playing the role of both full-time girlfriend and full-time manager. This helps explain the way she behaved during the strange CBS interviews that aired a week ago. Belichick was quick to defend her.

“I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced, and I repeatedly expressed to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep that conversation centered on the book,” Belichick said. “After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.”

Hudson has apparently been in control from the beginning, as she was the one who put a stop to Hard Knocks filming of North Carolina. However, through all of this, there is no one to blame but Belichick himself. He’s the one who seemingly allowed Hudson to take control of everything he does.

“Hudson has the power and influence she does because Belichick gave it to her. Wrongly or rightly, and for reasons only he knows, this is what he wants. If there’s blame to be had for the soap opera that’s created, Belichick deserves more than an equal share of it,” Nancy Armour wrote.

Now, Belichick appears to be trying to save face, as he is reportedly in talks to hire a P.R. specialist.

“Per multiple sources, Belichick has been talking to at least one experienced P.R. specialist in the hopes of boosting his book tour and/or the overall interests of the North Carolina football program,” Mike Florio wrote.

All of this seems to be an effort to salvage both his book tour and the on-field matters that Hudson nearly overshadowed during the CBS interview. Whether the plan works remains to be seen.
