PETA wants Nebraska player punished for killing raccoon image

After attempting to take a selfie with a raccoon, Nebraska football player Jack Gangwish is coming under criticism for killing it with a wrench.

Animal-rights organization PETA wants Gangwish to be punished for killing the raccoon after it bit him in the calf, the Lincoln Journal Star reported.

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk sent a letter to Nebraska director of athletics Shawn Eichorst.

"Student-athletes are set up to be role models," Eichorst wrote, "so it’s critical for the university to send its players the message that bullying and abusing anyone is unacceptable.”
