PFF's Top 25 differs wildly from Preseason AP Poll image

The first PFF top 25 poll is out, and it arrives not long after the Coaches Poll and the official preseason AP Poll. Unsurprisingly, it differs from the AP Poll. PFF has and uses a ton of advanced analytics to analyze the sport, and sometimes, that leads to very different perceptions of things.

So while it's not a surprise that PFF has different teams, it is a surprise that some teams got in and others got the ranking they did. For example, the AP Poll has the Texas Longhorns ranked first overall. PFF has them second, but it has the Clemson Tigers ranked number one despite being AP Poll number four.

There are plenty of other shockers, too. Alabama is PFF's fourth-ranked team while earning the eighth spot on the AP Poll. Florida makes it into PFF's top 10 while sitting at 15 in the AP Poll. Despite receiving only 10 votes to make the AP Poll, Auburn landed 25th with PFF.

Texas Tech jumped from 23rd (AP) to 17th (PFF). Oklahoma was 17th in the AP Poll, but PFF didn't deem them even a top 25 team in the nation. We will see which list is more accurate to the best teams in football soon.
