Paul Finebaum sends chilling warning to Ohio State football coach Ryan Day before Texas showdown image

Paul Finebaum isn't one to sugarcoat anything, especially when it comes to the SEC powerhouses. The same can be said for the Texas Longhorns, as they are set for a massive revenge game in Week 1 when they face the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio.

Both teams met in the postseason in January, as the Buckeyes advanced to the national title game with a 28-14 win in the Cotton Bowl. This led to coach Ryan Day winning his first national title during his tenure, but Finebaum says this season will be different for the Longhorns, given that it's quarterback Arch Manning's team as the program's face.

“I am as married to Arch Manning as an old geezer like me can be to a young, great college quarterback, but I like everything about him, and I think you said something," Finebaum said on "Get Up." "The Manning name matters, but it isn’t going to matter that field in a couple of weeks at Ohio State. The experience of being an understudy to Ewers and understanding Sark’s system is what’s going to get them over the top and probably — well, not probably — definitely beat Ohio State in the opener.”

Finebaum was quick to jump down Day's throat upon making his guarantee of the Longhorns making good on their revenge known.

“I don’t like Ohio State," Finebaum said. “I think Ohio State is going to lose in the opener against Texas, and they are going to struggle to make the playoffs, let alone win it all.”

The Buckeyes have yet to reveal who their starting quarterback is going to be. But, come next month, it will no longer be a question.

Either way, it should shape up to be one of college football's best games to begin the season and a potential preview of the postseason once again.

For now, only time will tell.
